Concessions, New 2 you and the pasta party

If there are any parents who have NOT fulfilled their concession duty,  there are many openings left at the stadium. Please go to Sign Up Genius to find a time to help. They have at least two events left.

In addition we have room for one more parent at New 2You on Friday night this week. They really appreciate our help and we get a pretty big contribution to our team. This is the only fundraiser that we have for the team. This money helps provide things like conference treat bags, Senior Night items, team parties, and other things. Please consider helping

Also, Senior parents should have received an email from Sign Up Genius about the Conference pasta party on 11/4. This meal is traditionally put together and hosted by the Senior Parents. If you did not receive that email, please contact Jennifer Schroder. (jennschroder@gmail.com) There are still some openings for this meal. Thanks so much!

Senior Night meal after the meet

We will be having a bigger room to use after our senior night (10/29) for our after meet meal and celebration. It will be in room HC 280. This is the large classroom down the hallway by the racquetball courts!

Taper Time!!!!

Taper is not…
  • ·      A time to just goof off and be lazy at practice and at home
  • ·      A time to slack off on details and get out of practice early
  • ·      It is not a magic pill you take and automatically go fast!

Taper is…
  • ·      A time where we will do increasingly less physically demanding sets and practices to allow our muscles and bodies to recover and rest more
  • ·      To focus on all the details and make sure that every aspect of our race is prepared for
  • ·      To focus on eating healthy… give something up (pop, candy, chocolate, junk food)
  • ·      To mentally stay focused on the big meet ahead and STAY positive
Feel good moments starting on Monday!

Taper can be a really fun part of your season, but it is also one of the most critical parts of your season. Everyone is different and will feel different things. Some may feel slow and sluggish during taper; others might feel hyper and overly energetic. There is not a right way to feel. The most important thing is to ALWAYS stay positive and communicate to the coaches how you are feeling! There is no strict diet or sleep pattern that you should try and keep during this time, just like the other part of the season… I encourage a well rounded/healthy diet with a normal sleep pattern. I also encourage taking some reflective time at home to focus on your goals and things that you want to accomplish by the end of the season. No matter what, always stay positive and have fun… that is what we have worked so hard for all year!

We are still looking to fill a few shifts on the New2You schedule. Please see how you can help.

Concussion form update

A reminder to have your athlete as well as a guardian complete the concussion form by this Friday! A note from the company that is in charge of the concussion program:

Our program will work on Macs but you may have to adjust a few things on your computer first. It appears that the Macs have a widespread issue with the computers permissions. The corrupted permissions cause our app to malfunction in many different ways depending on the corruption. Anyone using a Mac, I would highly recommend providing them these instructions.
Here are the steps to correct the corrupted permissions:
  1. Use Software Update to install all updates until it reports "Your Software is Up To Date".
  2. Open the Get Info window for the account's Home folder: In Finder, select Go > Home; then In Finder, select File > Get Info
  3. If needed, click the disclosure triangle to expand the "Sharing & Permissions:" section of the Get Info window.
  4. If needed, click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the Get Info window, then enter your admin user name and password and click OK.
  5. From the Action menu () at the bottom of the Get Info window, choose "Apply to enclosed items…"
  6. Click OK in the confirmation sheet.
  7. Wait for the process to complete.
Please let me know if this works for you or if you have any other questions.

Home Meet Meals

A note from Jennifer Schroder:

Thanks for being willing to help with meals! Hopefully by now you have received the invite from Sign Up Genius. A few things I forgot to mention. If everyone could sign up for three slots, that should fill us up.

Also, we have swimmers with nut allergies. Please make sure that all cookies and bars, salads, and anything else are nut free. We often have swimmers from other teams that appreciate this also. In addition, when sending cookies or bars, please label what type they are in case there are other allergies.

If you sign up to provide taco meat, we have had some sensitivities from kids with nut allergies, and also others, with the prepared taco meat from Gordon foods. If you could avoid that as well.

We  have plugs available in our room for crock pots to be plugged in, but no access to microwaves or refrigerators.
Thank you! Please address any questions about meals to Jennifer Schroder

Extra practice time

We have gotten some extra practice time like we have in the past at Cascade Country Club.

Dates: July 20-August 7
Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 7:30-9:30am
Tuesday/Thursday: 7:30-9am

This is completely optional and a great way to get (or stay) in shape before the season. We do not have access to the diving boards so I wanted to give divers a heads up. I know EGR usually has some open swim time with access to boards!

Annual Spring Signing Day

Parents and athletes,

The athletic department wanted me to make sure that you knew that the annual spring signing day for all collegiate bound student-athletes will be Wednesday, April 29 at 1:00pm in the Quest Lobby. If an athlete would like to participate in the event, they need to contact Assistant Athletic Director Kevin Broene with their intended college and sport to reserve a spot by Friday, April 24.  It is appropriate and encouraged to wear the college gear of your selected school and if your have any flags or pennants we love getting those early so we can use them to decorate the signing table and make for a nice venue for all of the pictures.

If you have an questions please reach out to Kevin Broene, thanks!

Keeping Jason in our prayers

Swim and dive family!

Please keep Jason Heerema's family in your prayers as his father just passed away this past week from Non-hodgkins Lymphoma.

He is now in a better place with our Heavenly Father, but will be missed!
